The cities of Moscow and Dubai will soon boast some new state-of-the-art attractions – the world’s first moving buildings.
Architect Dr David Fisher announced the launch of the Dynamic Tower concept in New York this week.
The Dubai building, which is set to be complete in 2010, will comprise 80 floors and be 420 metres tall, while the Dynamic Tower in Moscow is currently in the advanced design phase.
Dr Fisher revealed that Dynamic Architecture, the company behind the idea for the unique structures, plans to build its third moving skyscraper in New York.
He added: ‘Additional Dynamic Towers will be built around the world, following an expression of interest from developers, governments and public officials to construct a Dynamic Tower in Canada, Germany, Italy, Korea and Switzerland.’
Each floor of the Dynamic Tower skyscrapers will rotate independently, meaning that the building can constantly change shape and appearance.
The structures will also be environmentally friendly, with a wind turbine between each floor reportedly making the towers the first buildings to be entirely self-powered.

Lakers beat Celtics at star-studded Staples
Written by: Malia Brown
The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics, 87-81, as a celebrity crowd cheered them on.
Game three of the 2008 NBA Finals looked a little more like the Academy Awards than a basketball game.
Everyone from Hillary Duff to David Beckham showed up at the Staples Center Tuesday night to cheer on the home team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Number 1 Lakers fan Jack Nicholson enjoyed the game, as always, from his courtside seat, but was probably more than a little frustrated when Celtics coach, Doc Rivers, kept standing in his way.
American Idol winner David Cook sang the national anthem and shot a few free throws before the game.
Also in the crowd was Toby McQuire, Kristin Davis, Kanye West, Dustin Hoffman, Andy Garcia, David Arquette, Fergie, Dyan Cannon, Penny Marshall, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Clark Duncan, and soon-to-be Pixar superstar, Wall-E.
But the biggest star of the night was non-other than the Lakers own Kobe Bryant. This years MVP scored 36 points and lead the team to a 87-81 victory.
Game four will be played Thursday, and aired live from the Staples Center on ABC at 9 PM.

A Texas trainer met with officials from the NFL on Wednesday, sharing documentation about a steroid distribution network that serviced current and former players.
The league requested the meeting after the trainer, David Jacobs, was sentenced to three years of probation on May 1 for a single count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids. Jacobs has been cooperating with federal authorities since his arrest last year. By his own account, Jacobs was a prolific salesman, moving 1,000 bottles of anabolic steroids a month and an equal number of growth hormone kits that he obtained illicitly from China.
Speaking on behalf of Jacobs, Philadelphia attorney Henry Hockeimer Jr. said that league officials seemed “genuinely interested” in what the trainer had to say, as well as in canceled checks and e-mails that he provided.
Jacobs has publicly acknowledged that he dealt primarily with two NFL players, and earlier identified one of them as offensive lineman Matt Lehr. Last month, Jacobs told the Dallas Morning News that Lehr purchased tens of thousands of dollars of steroids and growth hormone from the spring of 2006 to the spring of 2007. He also told the paper that Lehr agreed to have boxes of raw steroid powder from China shipped directly to his Georgia home.
Lehr served a four-game suspension as an Atlanta Falcon in October 2006 after he tested positive for a banned substance. He spent last season with Tampa Bay and was acquired by the Saints in the offseason.
Lehr’s attorney, Paul Coggins, has previously insisted that “we have been told by the prosecutors that they do not intend to bring charges” against him.
After his sentencing, Jacobs told The New York Times that he hoped to tell league officials about “loopholes in their program.” He also said he’d advised about 10 players to use finasteride, a drug to treat balding, because it masks steroid use.

A Wheelchair-bound burglar was secretly filmed raiding the home of his disabled neighbour, Swansea magistrates have heard.
Clifford Llewellyn, aged 41, set up a video camera in his kitchen after he discovered small amounts of cash were going missing from his flat at Clarence Court in the city centre.
He was shocked to discover the thief was Keith Diment, also 41, with whom he had been friends for 30 years and to whom he had entrusted a key to his front door.
In mitigation, David Singh told the court Diment regretted breaching Mr Llewellyn’s trust and stealing his cash.
“He’s asked me to convey his deep regret and his remorse to the court and to the victim,” he said.
The court heard how, after noticing money was going missing, Mr Llewellyn called in his stepfather to help.
The pair set up the camera. It was aimed at a cabinet in the lounge where Mr Llewellyn kept his cash, and in which he placed a marked £20 note - after jotting down the serial number.
“The complainant returned home from a hospital appointment to find the £20 note had gone missing.
“He then checked the video recording and was appalled to find it showed the defendant wheeling himself to the cabinet, opening a drawer, removing the note and then wheeling himself away,” said the prosecution solicitor.
“Mr Llewellyn said the incident had left him feeling totally betrayed and very vulnerable and he says he does fear retribution.”
The pair had fallen out three years previously because of an undisclosed reason, and Mr Llewellyn had forgotten he had given Diment a key.
The court heard the offence was aggravated because of the breach of trust by Diment, using his former friend’s key to let himself into the flat.
An all-options pre-sentence report had been compiled after Diment admitted burglary, which looked at possible punishments - including jail.

Wikipedia tells us that show tunes are "frequently written for actors with limited vocal abilities," but Randy tells us tonight’s songs are all very difficult. Simon says the Andrew Lloyd Webber songs will challenge the "American Idol" singers to seem contemporary.
That’s probably the real challenge for listeners as well. This is a style of music that never really left the 1940s, despite the addition of electric guitar. I mentioned to a friend that Andrew Lloyd Webber would appear on the show tonight, and she said "he’s still alive?" Yes, and he’s Younger Than McCain.
To be honest, the only music that I find more irritating than showtunes is the undergrad a capella that seems to accompany it on otherwise decent college radio stations. But this evening isn’t about my dislike for showtunes. It’s about my disdain for the talents of "American Idol" contestants.
Let’s get started with Syesha’s rendition of "One Rock & Roll Too Many." She does it as a neo-soul cabaret kind of thing, and if it weren’t for the insipid lyrics I’d actually like to hear it again. I can only assume this means she’s getting voted off tomorrow.
The dreadlocks were a bit of a shock for our poor old coach, but that doesn’t stop "Memory" from being an adequate torch song in Jason Castro’s hands. Randy says it’s a "train wreck," but Paula thinks that’s just because a lot of people expect it to be sung by a woman with enormous pipes. Simon hates the choice and thinks it’s awful.
Brooke White, in the coaching session, has a hard time understanding the song, but as we’ve already reported, she comes through and becomes ALW’s favorite. She’s singing "You Must Love Me," which has a key advantage as a song selection: Because it was written for the "Evita" movie, rather than for a stage musical, it’s got the structure of a pop song. But she stumbles over the words at the beginning, and starts the song over. Then, during the first few phrases, her voice is weak and wavery. Once she gets going it’s OK, but the start was really subpar. Simon is moved to kindness, saying only that he thinks Brooke will be very disappointed when she sees the tape, but that she more or less did the right thing. It’s a real bummer: She’s a better singer than this.

The members of our “American Idol” Readers Judging Panel are still reeling from last week’s surprise departure of Aussie rocker Michael Johns. It’s just one more sign that this season’s edition of the show defies predictability.
But that won’t prevent our panelists from trying their best to get a handle on this thing. In fact, Rob Miller even offers up an early Final 2 prediction.
As always, you can find our panel’s complete critiques on the TV Freak blog at www.ibabuzz.com/tvfreak. Feel free to go there and toss in your two cents as well.
Last week: I’m with the rest of the world in being stunned by Michael’s exit. I enjoyed
the look of shock on everyone’s faces as they tried to comprehend what just happened.
Looking ahead: I’m hoping this week will be Syesha Mercado’s last. She’s been hanging on for way too long. But if Angry Carly Smithson goes, I’ll be satisfied with that also. Or people will realize that David Cook is just plagiarizing and isn’t really that spectacular.
Last week: I wasn’t a big fan of Michael, but for him to be in the Bottom 3, let alone voted off, is ridiculous. I find it curious that the three strongest voices were in the Bottom 3. Brooke White deserved to go.
Looking ahead: How do you handicap this thing? America’s voting has been too often nonsensical. I’ve long been supportive of Syesha,
but America continues to diss her, so I don’t think she’ll make it. My pick for the Final 2: David Archuleta and — I never thought I’d say this — Kristy Lee Cook. Tell me why I’m wrong.
Last week: Poor Michael. Handsome young man, great charisma, darn good voice, but he just didn’t know what to do with it.
Looking ahead: This thing is becoming a real horse race. But none of the remaining seven seems worthy of the title. Nothing they’ve shown thus far makes them stand out above the pack.

THAT'S inspirational. THAT'S real.
American Idol 's " Inspirational Music Night " was manufactured hokum — trumping up your emotions so you'll be all primed and ready to give to American Idol Gives Back, their big charity oozfest.
Now don't get me wrong. It's all for a good charity and it's commendable that they're doing it. But there's an element of inflated importance and grandstanding that just gives me the vibe that American Idol is doing this more for themselves and their image than for the charity itself.
I will not be watching the show this evening. I watched it last year. It was like freebasing the Jerry Lewis telethon .
Nor will I watch the results show. Last year they didn't eliminate anybody. How could they? What is American going to say — "Your song was the least inspirational. You've got to go"? Of course not. So now the show that is 90% filler normally will be 100% filler. There will be the zippy Ford commercial, the Up With People production number with the kids (probably singing "Climb Every Mountain" while Paula cries uncontrollably), probing questions from the viewers (" David Archuleta , I'm getting my braces off in a year. Will you wait for me?"), and finally the recaps — endless recaps (Tuesday's show, Wednesday's show, last year's show, the first half of this show).
But I did watch the Tuesday performance show. I'm not an overly sentimental slug as you know but I must admit I was moved to boredom.
I know I'm being snarky but does it seem to you that the performances are just not that good this year? There are always things to goof on but in the past those were mixed with some fantastic performances. Now the judges are fawning over Jason Castro. We've lowered the bar to the point where only a limbo champion could go under it.
