The members of our “American Idol” Readers Judging Panel are still reeling from last week’s surprise departure of Aussie rocker Michael Johns. It’s just one more sign that this season’s edition of the show defies predictability.
But that won’t prevent our panelists from trying their best to get a handle on this thing. In fact, Rob Miller even offers up an early Final 2 prediction.
As always, you can find our panel’s complete critiques on the TV Freak blog at www.ibabuzz.com/tvfreak. Feel free to go there and toss in your two cents as well.
Last week: I’m with the rest of the world in being stunned by Michael’s exit. I enjoyed
the look of shock on everyone’s faces as they tried to comprehend what just happened.
Looking ahead: I’m hoping this week will be Syesha Mercado’s last. She’s been hanging on for way too long. But if Angry Carly Smithson goes, I’ll be satisfied with that also. Or people will realize that David Cook is just plagiarizing and isn’t really that spectacular.
Last week: I wasn’t a big fan of Michael, but for him to be in the Bottom 3, let alone voted off, is ridiculous. I find it curious that the three strongest voices were in the Bottom 3. Brooke White deserved to go.
Looking ahead: How do you handicap this thing? America’s voting has been too often nonsensical. I’ve long been supportive of Syesha,
but America continues to diss her, so I don’t think she’ll make it. My pick for the Final 2: David Archuleta and — I never thought I’d say this — Kristy Lee Cook. Tell me why I’m wrong.
Last week: Poor Michael. Handsome young man, great charisma, darn good voice, but he just didn’t know what to do with it.
Looking ahead: This thing is becoming a real horse race. But none of the remaining seven seems worthy of the title. Nothing they’ve shown thus far makes them stand out above the pack.
